Earthquakes and Ducklings
We experienced a powerful (7.6) earthquake this morning, apparently the biggest here in over 50 years. It was certainly the biggest one I’ve ever felt; it lasted some 30 seconds which felt like minutes of the house shaking to the point that our three chandeliers looked like swings at a playground.
While I held the younger two tightly in an attempt to keep them (and myself) from feeling frightened, Eric (15, still so weird to say that) was upstairs lying in bed with a huge smile on his face enjoying the ride. After it was over, (did I mention it took 30 seconds??!!!) the kids were ready to go for round two. Thankfully, their wish was not granted. :)
Sera and Luc were mostly concerned about the family of ducks that live in the pond leading to the river just outside of our property. So off we were to pay them a visit. Ducks were just fine, monkeys were happily jumping around in the trees again, and the hairs on the back of the dogs neck have finally gone down.
All is well in paradise again.
