When the president of your country declares that school children and most workers can take two hours to watch the game you KNOW it’s a big deal!
We walked by a local elementary school in Jaco and the teachers invited us in to watch the game with the kids. Three little girls stopped me at the door and asked me if I was a famous singer from the United States. Then they wanted me to sing in English, even after I told them I couldn’t. It was adorable. Fifteen seconds of (almost) fame. ;)
We were at the grocery store when they won. All of the workers were glued to the t.v. screen hanging at the entrance of the store.Cashiers peeling themselves away only for a moment to check out the two people crazy enough not to watch. When the game ended the whole town went NUTS! Screaming, dancing, drinking, singing, I mean WILD! It was something else.
We bumped into our accountant.
PURA VIDA, COSTA RICA!!! You made your country very proud!
